Germany’s highest mountain
No, your eyes are not playing a trick on you. The famous fortress on Asperg’s Hohenasperg “mountain” has been used as a prison for centuries now. Which is why people have long told the tale of Germany’s highest mountain: you can climb it in just a few minutes but getting back down it can sometimes take a lifetime. But don’t worry, after you have climbed our mountain, you can take a gentle stroll back down to the valley enjoying the extremely attractive scenery as you go.

Castles and fairy-tale gardens …
Built between 1704 and 1733 during the reign of Duke Eberhard Ludwig of Württemberg, Ludwigsburg’s Residential Palace is surrounded with spacious parks and gardens. Today, the impressive building is a popular tourist destination. The various gardens are worth a visit whatever the season and are in fact so beautiful that together, under the name of “Blooming Baroque”, they are seen as a veritable fairy-tale garden. Since 2004 the castle has housed four museums, inviting you to find out more about the styles of baroque, rococo, neo-classicism and empire.

The Glasperlenspiel in Asperg
The Glasperlenspiel in Asperg invites you to take a seat, relax and find out what there is to discover behind that curtain, because the small theatre has a constantly changing repertoire of music, painting, cabaret as well as cultural experiences for children. The “powerful amateur theatre with its artistic ambition” has won several awards and remains as popular as ever.
